and likewise (already reported this in the nyc subway car listing thread)...

4794-95, 4838-39, 4802-03, 4788-89: ENY to Pitkin.

4788-89 was allegedly reported as retired before but ran a (Z) skip stop trip in the AM rush.

Currently theres one set in 207 for storage and another set in fresh pond for the same reason alongside the one i mentioned above. that leaves about two sets of R42s left based out of ENY, because it was reported that at least one of them is sitting in the layup at Jamaica Center.

I’m curious to know why they’ve sent the same pairs back to these yards. An R42 is an R42... the same consists are returning to their position as per roster.

Remember R42s were previously retired earlier this month and then returned to service because R179s had some mechanical issues and so far now they are all fixed so R42 has again currently returned to retirement until further notice or for good.

So you must assume therefore that all 870 R-160s based at Jamaica are now CBTC operational.

So now we may NOT from the horse's mouth.  The Queens lines have mixed sets of CBTC enabled, some completed sets when so consisted and some have not have (Jamaica) installation even yet begun.  CBTC installation is in its fourth year as it is.  That means somebody has to figure out which exactly R160s can or can't be used during CBTC operationality.

Kind of a chore or a mess, isn't it?  The drilling crews at JYD must be busy (ahem, thrilled?).

That would have had some quickly refurbished 600vdc bussing inside, maybe a helped inverter?  A waste or just respect for their history?

Whatever, nice to see of the final ride!

It would be nice if they added a sticker under the number plates on the cab cars like ENY did. Perhaps there's something in the cab denoting it has CBTC?
