Currently theres one set in 207 for storage and another set in fresh pond for the same reason alongside the one i mentioned above. that leaves about two sets of R42s left based out of ENY, because it was reported that at least one of them is sitting in the layup at Jamaica Center. I’m curious to know why they’ve sent the same pairs back to these yards. An R42 is an R42... the same consists are returning to their position as per roster.
bwwnyc123 Posted January 25, 2020 Share #5427 Posted January 25, 2020 R179 are back in passenger service so R42 are not needed now and are put away in storage.
Shore El Express Posted January 25, 2020 Share #5428 Posted January 25, 2020 There probably gone for good. On thursday there were five in service but in the friday PM they were all gone. That was quick
bwwnyc123 Posted January 25, 2020 Share #5429 Posted January 25, 2020 (edited) Remember R42s were previously retired earlier this month and then returned to service because R179s had some mechanical issues and so far now they are all fixed so R42 has again currently returned to retirement until further notice or for good. CBTC installation is in its fourth year as it is. That means somebody has to figure out which exactly R160s can or can't be used during CBTC operationality. Kind of a chore or a mess, isn't it? Perhaps there's something in the cab denoting it has CBTC?

Others maybe in reserve. Is anyone finding them?
