S78 via Hylan Posted April 14, 2017 Share #1354 Posted April 14, 2017 Anyone going to JFK Airport the last weekend of April will have a difficult trip: No service between Euclid Av and Lefferts/Howard Beach. No service east of Crescent St. Jamaica-bound trains entirely local.
R42N Posted April 19, 2017 Share #1355 Posted April 19, 2017 (edited) How long will it take the MTA to just send the to 96th and have the run normally during this GO? That wouldn’t work out. That would really confuse us Astoria riders, and there wouldn’t be any service to Brooklyn, just one local to Whitehall. I personally think the best option is what they did prior to 2010, suspended the during these midday hours. However, considering local stops along the Broadway Line have picked up, maybe run the as a Broadway Local, so some riders aren’t inconvenienced. Reason why they're using 96th Street is so that they don't have to tie up service at 57 Street.

j express Posted April 22, 2017 Share #1367 Posted April 22, 2017 With the split G.O, we could see Westchester equipment on the southern but I think they should run additional service between 3 Av and Brooklyn Bridge instead. If Queens Blvd dosent have any G.Os occuring, would it makes sense to send the to Forest Hills.

Right, which is the actual main reason for doing it. The additional service on the SAS to me would be very important as well given how densely populated the UES is.

Wallyhorse Posted April 22, 2017 Share #1370 Posted April 22, 2017 I actually think this will become a permanent thing because of how popular it's gonna become overtime when the is down. This is the move I was looking at originally as a permanent late night/weekend service. The main reason I had been suggested the being split into and (with the becoming 24/7 between Metropolitan and 96th/2nd, supplementing the current on weekdays and replacing the on weekends) when the is shut down has more to do with politics, as I suspect we will see elected officials on the UES want a 6th Avenue service to/from 96/2 at all times (not just late nights and weekends) in addition to the .
