w8Hou Posted November 1, 2012 Share #401 Posted November 1, 2012 Shuttle buses in the morning didnt plan out so well.... With no power or subway service in Lower Manhattan, Brooklyn residents had to rely on buses to get into the city. Thousands of frustrated Brooklynites circled the brand-new Barclays Center and waited hours to board Manhattan-bound buses. With such huge crowds, some bus operators picked up passengers at the back of lines, just to get some people rolling -- to the anger of commuters in the front of line. http://www.nypost.co...Qpjbls1tVzWAGuL

Brighton Express Posted November 2, 2012 Share #407 Posted November 2, 2012 Maybe earlier, it all depends how much repair work they have to do on other lines. Bring ballast, tamp it, align track, system testing - in two month's time they should be able to do it. That damage looks way more than two months to me. 2 months is about when they should have the cleanup done.

Threxx Posted November 2, 2012 Share #410 Posted November 2, 2012 Actually, you underestimate the ability of the MTA... I refer to the 1950's Astor Place flood. That was repaired in a week. Tracks were literally sinking into the roadbeds, and you can bet signal equipment was damaged as well. I say 7 weeks, tops.

Why do you think the M is running via 63rd Street?

nyctransit Posted November 2, 2012 Share #422 Posted November 2, 2012 Interesting thread, I must say. I just finished reading all the pages. Any scoop on where connection between Manhattan-Brooklyn will be restored? I don't think we can rely entirely on the shuttle buses. I wish the G line would be up!
