Lance Posted June 18, 2014 Share #4001 Posted June 18, 2014 Why do riders know what's local and what's express any more than riders? I had an R62A the other day where one car showed 3 Av-138, one showed Parkchester, and one showed Pelham Bay Park. There's no way to 'know' since all the signs are messed up. If I had to wager a guess, it could be due to the in-station announcements and LED screens that tell you exactly which train is coming into the station. It still makes little sense to remove the indicators on the trains though.

East New York Posted June 20, 2014 Author Share #4004 Posted June 20, 2014 I love randomly catching brand new cars going up Bronxwood Av, but never seem to be able to get my phone out in time. It's happened like 3 times now. I finally got to catch a set in service about 2 months ago.
realizm Posted June 21, 2014 Share #4005 Posted June 21, 2014 nice! You guys gotta get your R62A train pics and vids while you can, same for R142As on the 6! That's true. Time is moving fast. If you don't move fast enough you might miss it.
R188 7857 Posted June 21, 2014 Share #4006 Posted June 21, 2014 (edited) This is just in today. I was fanning the , I did not ride it, but R188's 7888-7898 ARE NOW IN SERVICE! The interior has NO ADVERTISEMENTS, just subway maps. It's fresh. EDIT: Judging from what I shot of that train, I'm not quite sure actually..... Let's break down what I saw: The train at 103 Street, in the video I could not see if there were people in it or if doors were opening/closing. But, there were no testing papers on the windows. And, I cannot also distinguish if the signage was on. The train I saw when i was coming back was doing the usual. It was changing sides in the middle track at 69 street, still no papers on windows. So, I think this is actually a mystery. Maybe somebody can confirm this? Edited June 22, 2014 by R188 7857
S78 via Hylan Posted June 22, 2014 Share #4007 Posted June 22, 2014 (edited) It might have been a short-turning at 74 St due to the G.O. Edited June 22, 2014 by S78 via Hylan
R188 7857 Posted June 22, 2014 Share #4008 Posted June 22, 2014 (edited) It might have been a short-turning at 74 St due to this weekends G.O. Yup. The train turns thru the middle track at 69 street. When it was at 103 street, I'm not sure if there was passengers in it, though. Edited June 22, 2014 by R188 7857

NYtransit Posted June 26, 2014 Share #4021 Posted June 26, 2014 Looks like the sets are now being broken apart. 7811 was hooked up to 7876. I know it was destined to happen, Just sucks now that the sets wont be in numerical order in the coming months.

4P3607 Posted June 26, 2014 Share #4024 Posted June 26, 2014 I'm waiting until they mix up the converted cars and new sets. The two sets put together will look so obvious as to which one was already used...
