NYSubwayBuff Posted April 30, 2014 Share #3851 Posted April 30, 2014 I heard that they had numbers on the roll sign up to 15 or something to signify a short turn or if they split a route up into two segments like if the was split up one side would be the other would be (10) or whatever number was available
LTA1992 Posted May 1, 2014 Share #3852 Posted May 1, 2014 Those numbers were for rush hour expresses. the would be (8), the changed to 11. The Thru Express would have been (12) I think. Things like that.

R62AR33 Posted May 6, 2014 Share #3858 Posted May 6, 2014 Does any one know where the 8th set is at? R188s or R62As ?
XcelsiorBoii4888 Posted May 6, 2014 Share #3859 Posted May 6, 2014 Lol it's an R188 thread, he's talking about the R188. 7888-7898 is the last set, or 8th set. Hence the last digits being 8. 7811-7821 was the first set.
4P3607 Posted May 7, 2014 Share #3860 Posted May 7, 2014 7881-7885 is in service. Saw it on a this morning. Not sure what it was linked up to. Also 1961-1962-1963-1964-1965 are hooked up in consecutive order on the South end of a train. 1961 has a full cab. They are NOT linked but coupled.

Kingsbridgeviewer382 Posted May 7, 2014 Share #3863 Posted May 7, 2014 The R62A's in that range are mixed up with most of them on the 42nd Street shuttle so they can't just be linked like that.

Union Tpke Posted May 7, 2014 Share #3865 Posted May 7, 2014 In due time they will be re linked in # order. What's the point of linking in them in number order, it doesn't really matter.
T J Trainman Posted May 7, 2014 Share #3866 Posted May 7, 2014 They want to keep 1901-1908, 1910-1925 as all singles and group 1926-1965 in 5 car sets so they can go to the 6.

realizm Posted May 7, 2014 Share #3868 Posted May 7, 2014 (edited) Well I guess I'll throw it out there for the heck of it: Some are discussing possible reasons as to why there were R142A cars suddenly on the Pelham Bay/Lexington Ave Local without stripmaps. In the video is the interior of car #7598. Note that its only cars # 7211-7590 that are or are slated to become, R188 conversion sets. It doesn't appear to be due to vandalism. Which is still ongoing. Edited May 7, 2014 by realizm
RTOPRO Posted May 7, 2014 Share #3869 Posted May 7, 2014 I know but I'm just wondering why they have to put them consecutively. For internal operations. That's the vague answer I'm going to give you. I'm not going to go into the details of the many reasons why. You'll just have to guess what they could be on your own and if you do it here, no I will not verify if your guess is correct or incorrect. Sorry for being vague but that's the best answer I'm prepared to give you.
trainfan22 Posted May 7, 2014 Share #3870 Posted May 7, 2014 People have stole car builder plates off of trains before so its not far fetched for someone to steal the strip map. Doesn't make sense for the TA to remove the 6 line stripmap while its still running on that route. There's even a 68A car out there that's missing one of its side rollsigns.

realizm Posted May 8, 2014 Share #3872 Posted May 8, 2014 Might was well cut this conversation short quickly and for the record state that I did not intend to get into a discussion about stealing roll-signs. That wasn't my point.
Priincenene Posted May 8, 2014 Share #3873 Posted May 8, 2014 Hey I saw that video too. I don't know why there is no strip map? Maybe conversion?
