SUBWAY - Random Thoughts Topic

The IRT created the "H" system after building 7th Ave and Lextington Ave lines. Did they consider criss-crossing the "new" line from 7th Ave to Lexington Ave instead of severing the original subway line along 42nd st? They could have had a (7th Ave 53rd st) type transfer station between uptown and downtown service.

I Understand and Agree, Why would (N)(Q) and (W) lose R160s?

It isnt an R179 discussion, so moved here.

The big idea floating around is the (N)(Q)(W) will lose their R160s to Jamaica Yard and receive R46s that are currently running on the (F)(R) because of Queens Blvd CBTC. However, my opinion is the R46s currently in Jamaica yard will stay there till the base order of R211s shows up, so nothing needs to be shuffled around. Why send R46s to CI to fill Jamaica with 160s, then move some 160s back after the base order arrives? That seems a bit excessive. In time between now and a little more than a year when the production R211s start showing up, we will all figure out the answer for this. Till then, its a guessing game.

While we’re at it, let’s also "send" the (A) to Reads Lane.

Is there a minimum age to be a member on the forum? If not, we should set one

And what would that accomplish? When I was 5 I set up an email account with my birth year as 1973 instead of 1997. Anyone with half a brain could work around that, especially If I could pull it off as a 5 y/o. Unless y'all start asking for a copy of a drivers license at sign up, there's no way to check that (and then again, some people are masters at Photoshop and could whip up a license in under an hour).

I noticed that the 6, C, E, N, and Q trains all have new schedules as of April 28th. Logically the G, 7, M and J/Z got them for the L work (the L's new schedule has yet to be published by the MTA). Any ideas as to why they've issued a whole bunch of new supplements?

The changes in the M affect the N and Q because it goes via 63rd, and the changed times of the M no longer going via 53rd also affect the E, which then affects the C. I can't say about the 6.

Well duh, I feel silly now for not realizing that. I realized the Q after I had sent the message because of the M, but not put together the chain of the N or C and E.
