-Train is stopped by NYPD

-2 people were removed from the train

*The cause of this is 2 individuals hopped the turnstile from the other side of the station and ran to the train.

Did the train pull away and NYPD officers called dispatch for that train to come to a stop at the next station or the station it was sitting at?

But why though...are you really gonna delay people's commutes just for two fare beaters...

Why not? The NYPD needs to be paid to do something.

Sometimes, the NYPD doesn't know which battles to fight. If the whole train were fare beaters or homeless people, I'd see why the NYPD would delay the train. But catching two fare beaters does very little except for their quotas.

MTA employees were giving out brochures and putting up signs at Bay Ridge Avenue this morning for the ESI. (photos below)

The station will close on 4/29 (and so will the (R) below 36 Street that weekend) and it appears there will be no shuttle buses (which honestly isn't a big deal; I can just walk up to 77 Street or take the B9 to 59 Street instead)

A small update: I came back to Bay Ridge Avenue in the PM rush and saw that they had put up these gigantic posters in the afternoon:

Why does the new Roosevelt Ave QBL interlocking have some strange behavior with the signals?

Over the past year since it was installed in phases, I have seen (in no particular order

*Signals mid platform that stay red until a train is several blocks away, then show a brief ST (20 or 15 light), then turn yellow. This is if the home signal at the end of the platform is yellow over green or green over green. These mid platform signals are never green.

*Red home signals will still be preceded by the brief ST aspect, but this is usually if one train just pulled out and another is right behind waiting to enter

*Said station time aspects in mid station

*One shot timers for diverging movements. Why not have 2 shots or the newly installed ST?

*extremely close and bright signals. Looking out the RFW on an e/b express, sometimes its hard to tell the next signal especially with another train in front or 3 to 4 yellows ahead in a row

I havent noticed much of a reduction in speed on the QBL around there, save for the express during rush hour (they repositioned some signals and control lengths on the expressw/b at Elmhurst and e/b at 65th, this has caused more congestion around there), and am curious as to the rationale of putting in all this complex operation, especially with CBTC coming soon.

Hello, is there a blue <B> line because i remember i once saw it on a picture and it was on the entrance of 86th Street in Manhattan. The image is from 2003 i believe so im wondering if it just a vandal thing like the 9 train bullet being turned into the 9 3/4 thing. I cant find any info so it would help if anyone had anything about it. Thank you.

I'm surprised there's no switch between the 8th Avenue and 6th Avenue lines at 7th Av-53rd.

Because at both ends of the station, trains immediately turn. Also make it redundant since there's switches between both lines at both Columbus Circle and West 4 St.

Hoyt-Schermerhorn surprises me more, though I suppose any switches there wouldn't be very necessary, seeing as the sensible routes (Culver->8th Av and Crosstown -> Fulton) are not the tracks that are next to each other.

If I'm not mistaken, the Crosstown and Fulton St tracks are not at the same level long enough to actually install switches there.

Interesting -- thanks!!

Would it be possible to install new?

At Broadway-Lafayette? Probably. Will they? Probably not. You'd think that somewhere in the 50 years since Chrystie St opened, they would've installed a new switch for downtown trains so trains rerouted from 8th Avenue can reach the Manhattan Bridge.

<video removed>

An R160 (W) train pulls into 72nd Street/2nd Avenue...

And the announcement says "96th Street/2nd Avenue bound (R)...."

Apparently, some trains are calling the wrong file for this route. It appears to be an isolated incident affecting only some cars. Others are making the correct announcements, like such:
